The Highland Wildlife Park

Blog Sample 1

An amazing wildlife experience is just an easy 15-minute drive from Ravenscraig Guest House. The Highland Wildlife Park showcases animals from around the world. The 260-acre site is both a safari park and a zoo.

The Animals

The main reserve is the part of the park that you drive around. Here you will be able to see European elk and bison, red deer and the UK’s only herd of Himalayan Tahr. You can drive round in your own vehicle, or you can hop into one of the guided Land Rover tours. All the animals share the area. You can go round as many times as you want so you don’t have to worry about missing out.

In the walk-around section of the park, you can see some of the more exotic animals that call the park home. There are polar bears, red pandas, Japanese macaques and snow leopards. You can also walk around the award-winning wolf wood, where you can see the European wolf pack and forest reindeer.

The Talks

Every day there is a range of talks which will give you a chance to learn more about the animals and see them being fed. Popular talks are the snow monkey scatter feeds, the wild cat talks and the polar bear feeds. Have a look on the website before you go to see what events and demonstrations will be on when you visit. It is a good idea to plan your visit around the talks you want to see.

Planning A Visit

The park is open all year round. It is only closed on Christmas Day. You can buy tickets on the day or book in advance online. On occasion, the park is closed in winter if the weather is very bad, so you may want to call before you go if you have any doubts. The park opens at 10am every day and closes between 4pm and 6pm depending on the time of year.
